The Way it Should B(e)

Certified B Corporations are a unique group of companies that commit to extremely rigorous standards regarding environmental and social accountability. It’s a big challenge to be a B Corp. This is not the easy path, but for us it’s the only way that we think a business should be run. Worldwide there are 3,821 companies that have made this commitment. We are proud to be number 3,822.

If You Want To Be the Best

Society’s most challenging problems cannot be solved by government and nonprofits alone. The B Corp community works toward reduced inequality, lower levels of poverty, a healthier environment, stronger communities, and the creation of more high quality jobs with dignity and purpose. By harnessing the power of business, B Corps use profits and growth as a means to a greater end: positive impact for their employees, communities, and the environment.

1% for the Planet

Joining the 3,419 global businesses already supporting environmental non-profits to increase smart environmental giving we became the newest Member of 1% FTP in 2021.

We have chosen to support the Sea Turtle Conservancy, selected with the guidance of 1% FTP, by committing 1% of our gross sales to their mission. Plastics in oceans, global warming and rising sea levels affect us all. Through research, education and advocacy they are saving turtles and so much more: Sea Turtle Conservancy – Helping Sea Turtles Survive Since 1959 (conserveturtles.org).

Our Question: Why Don’t More Businesses Engage?

In 2002, Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, created 1% for the Planet and started a global movement. The idea was simple: because companies profit from the resources they take from the earth, they should protect those resources.

“The intent of 1% for the Planet is to help fund these diverse environmental organizations so that collectively they can be a more powerful source in solving the world’s problems.”

— YVON CHOUINARD

We couldn’t agree more!

Impact. Purpose. Change.

As B Corporations and leaders of this emerging economy, we believe:

  1. That we must be the change we seek in the world.

  2. That all business ought to be conducted as if people and places mattered.

  3. That, through their products, practices, and profits, businesses should aspire to do no harm and benefit all.

  4. To do so requires that we act with the understanding that we are each dependent upon another and thus responsible for each other and future generations.
